My work is a testament to my love for the intricate process and effort required to create something so profoundly simple.
I have always worked with the idea of making functional objects non-functional.  For a long time, my go-to medium has been 1960s and 70s furniture, reconstructing and deconstructing it. From experience, the less I do, the better; I always like the medium to be domestic, something reminiscent of the past. As a rule, I don't draw or plan my work; my practice is a performative and intuitive process of working straight with materials I accumulate in the studio. I avoid traditional art materials, preferring ready-made objects as I always look for a unique visual language and objects with a previous life and domestic history. Recently, I created a series of paintings for Berlin using vintage letterpress trays. I find the backs of these trays particularly interesting, with their paint marks and fingerprints reflecting their history. I do nothing to them; they are carefully sourced for their marks. Then I will then put them together very quickly in a performative way.
